Anne Hathaway says she found a family in The End of Oak Street co-stars

Anne Hathaway may be dealing with dinosaurs in The End of Oak Street, but it was her human and canine co-stars who made the shoot memorable. The Oscar-winning actor has spoken about finding an easy equation with Ewan McGregor, Maisy Stella and Christian Convery, sharing that somewhere between filming the action and spending time together off camera, they began to feel like an actual family.
And it seems Hathaway found the perfect on-screen husband in McGregor. The two play parents to Stella and Convery in David Robert Mitchell’s sci-fi adventure, which sees the Platt family land in serious trouble after their suburban neighbourhood is transported to a world filled with dinosaurs.
Talking about working with McGregor, Hathaway, in an exclusive statement to India Today, said there was a sense of fun that he naturally brought to the part. She was also impressed by just how easily the Star Wars actor slipped into action mode when the stunts kicked in.
She said, “Ewan is such a joy. He’s a joy to act with; he’s just a joy to sit next to in a director’s chair in between shots. He’s just a lovely human, and I was just really looking forward to seeing him play this part. I always think that Ewan brings the most wonderful energy, just a sense of fun to all of his roles, and so I was really excited to have that dynamic with the person who would be playing my husband, to see what kind of relationship we would have with that.”
“And then once we got into the action portion of the film, all of a sudden you see all of Ewan’s many years of stunt training kick in. And he was phenomenal. I mean, he could pick up stunts like that — swing a sledgehammer like it’s a lightsaber — so he’s just absolutely wonderful, a dream co-star, great laugh, A-pluses across the board,” The Odyssey actor added.
But it wasn’t just her on-screen husband that Hathaway bonded with. The actor was particularly taken by young Convery’s ability to move in and out of emotionally intense scenes with surprising ease. With Stella, the relationship went a step further, as the two ended up becoming good friends during the shoot.
