Musharraf’s plea for military trial rejected
ISLAMABAD (TIP): A special Pakistani court on April 19 rejected ex-Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf’s plea seeking his trial before a military tribunal. It instead summoned him to appear before it on March 11.
Musharraf, 70, had challenged the special court’s authority to try him saying he was a serving officer when he made the decisions for which he is being tried. Justice Faisal Arab ruled that the Army Act does not apply in the case as he has retired.
