NYS Sen. Kevin Thomas Sponsors Resolution to Proclaim January 26, 2022, as India Republic Day in the State of New York
GARDEN CITY, NY (TIP): In honor of India Republic Day, New York State Senator Kevin Thomas has sponsored an official resolution to memorialize Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim January 26, 2022, as India Republic Day in the State of New York. Republic Day marks the adoption of the constitution of India and the transition of the country to a republic on January 26, 1950. Senator Thomas became the first Indian American to serve in the New York State Legislature when he was elected in 2018.
